Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1996, Omar moved to Egypt at the age of only six with his family. However, only three years later, in 2005, Omar’s family decided to move to the United States, and he spent his subsequent years in Columbus, Ohio.
Despite spending a huge amount of his life in a country where football wasn’t quite popular, and other sports had more chances, Omar still managed to keep the passion for football alive in him and began his youth career with Columbus Crew at the age of just 16. He also played for Jackson College Jets at the College level and impressed everyone with his mid-field play, scoring 6 goals in 11 appearances.
Omar Mohamed’s football journey started when he signed with Cincinnati in January 2016. After his stint with Cincinnati, Mohamed moved to Portland Timbers 2 in the USL in March 2017.
Following his time at Des Moines Menace in the USL League Two, Mohamed transferred to Greenville Triumph SC, which plays in USL League One, on February 8th, 2019, just before their inaugural season.
However, after finishing their season last year, Greenville Triumph SC’s contract with Mohamed was not renewed. As a result, on January 22nd this year, he joined Menemenspor and played the 2022/2023 season with them, but he is currently without a team.
