The Ghana National Football Team players, also called the Black Stars, have a rich past and tradition in African and global football.
There have been some exceptional talents that have come through the team over the years who have gone on to play for top clubs around the world. The present squad is a mixture of experienced and young players, from goalkeepers to forwards.
Richard Ofori
Position: Goalkeeper
Richard Ofori was born on November 1, 1993; he is a Ghanaian goalkeeper playing for Orlando Pirates in the South African Premier Division today.
He was named as the best goalie in 2015 and 2016 since he had terrific performances while playing for clubs like Maritzburg United. For his country, he has played twenty-four times and one match remained when he wore the armband.
Lawrence Ati-Zigi

Lawrence Ati-Zigi was born on November 29, 1996, and the goalkeeper currently plays for St. Gallen.
In 2018, he broke into the senior national team and so far represented it in nineteen games. Ati-Zigi remains a very integral part of the squad.
Joe Wollacott

Joseph “Jojo” Luke Wollacott, born 8 September 1996, plays as a goalkeeper for Hibernian of the Scottish Premiership.
In fact, he was included in the Ghana squad in March 2021 and made his debut in a 3-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Zimbabwe.
Daniel Amartey

Daniel Amartey is a football player who was born on December 21st,1994. He currently plays for Beşiktaş in Süper Lig.
The ability to play both as an attacking midfielder and central defender has positioned him as an excellent choice for the current Ghanaian lineup.
Alexander Djiku

Born on August 9th,1994, Alexander Djiku is a Fenerbahçe center-back. France-born but with parents from Ghana and France, Djiku has gone on international duty with Ghana. notably including scoring his maiden international goal against Comoros during the African Cup of Nations in 2021.
Gideon Mensah

Auxerre is where Mensah Gideon was born on July 18th,1998, and he now acts as a left-back there, playing in Ligue 2. Mensah’s defensive qualities have been honed through loan spells at different clubs across Europe thus, he has great experience, which allowed him to improve defensively and develop his career.
Nicholas Opoku
Position: Defender
Opoku, born on August 11, 1997, is a talented defender for Amiens, currently playing in France’s Ligue 1. This outstanding player sought opportunities beyond his home country, which brought him from Ghana to the international stage.
He made his first appearance at the senior level in 2017 after representing Ghana in various youth categories, where he showed his considerable skills.
Denis Odoi
Position: Defender
Club Brugge, in Belgium’s first division A has a very versatile right-footed full-back called Denis Frimpong Odoi, also known as “The Professor”.
Born in Belgium, Odoi played for his country at U20 and U21 before getting to play for Ghana’s senior team in 2022.
Alidu Seidu
Position: Defender
In France’s Ligue 1, Rennes’ defense has been strengthened by Alidu Seidu, born on June 4, 2000.
This young defender has demonstrated significant talent with his defensive skills, which have earned him a spot on Ghana’s national team.
Mohammed Salisu

A center-back for Monaco is Mohammed Salisu Abdul Karim who was born on April 17th, 1999. Salisu’s solid defensive attributes have made him an important player for both club and country.
Kingsley Schindler

Kingsley Schindler, who is twenty-eight years old, currently plays as an attacking midfielder for Turkish Samsunspor.
He preferred playing football for Ghana although he was born in Germany, showing his loyalty and passion.
André Ayew (Captain)

André Morgan Rami Ayew, commonly known as Ayew or Dede Ayew, was born on December 17, 1989. He plays for Le Havre in France’s Ligue 1 and serves as the captain of the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.
Ayew, who can play both as a winger and a forward, holds the record for the most appearances (120) for the national side.
Mohammed Kudus

He is an attacking midfielder or right winger for West Ham United, which is a Premier League team. He was born on 2 August 2000 and named Mohammed Kudus.

Iddrisu Baba
Position: Midfielder
On loan from Mallorca to Almería, Iddrisu Baba Mohammed plays as a defensive midfielder for La Liga club, and he was born on 22nd January 1996.
Formerly known for his defensive capabilities, Baba is now indispensable in the midfield lineup for Ghana.
Osman Bukari

Osman Bukari was born on December 13th, 1998, and is currently a right winger who plays in the Serbian SuperLiga with Red Star Belgrade.
Bukari acquired Serbian citizenship in 2023 but is still available to represent Ghana.
Salis Abdul Samed

He is a defensive midfielder playing Ligue1 with Lens FC, and his name is Salis Abdul-Samed. He was born on March 26th,2000. Samed has made it to the senior national team of Ghana and is one of the most lethal defenders available for Ghana.
Joseph Paintsil

Joseph Paintsil, born on 1 February 1998, is a winger for Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy. Paintsil has shown promise with his attacking flair, making him a valuable asset for Ghana.
Majeed Ashimeru

Anderlecht’s midfielder Majeed Ashimeru was born on October 10, 1997. However, because of his technicality in the middle of the park and vision, he has been an important player for both clubs and national teams.
Elisha Owusu
Position: Midfielder
Elisha Owusu is another midfielder for whom this must be said – no surprise that he currently features for Auxerre, which occupies the top position in Ligue2 with three points above Toulouse, its closest rival. Born in France, Owusu chose to play internationally for Ghana thereby improving their central midfield position.
